International Youth Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation
Nepal, a majestic Himalayan Shangri-La, is still thriving for development despite the abundance of natural resources and human capital, especially the youth. Nepal could not gain momentum for its drive for prosperity due to low priority of the Governments in the past and poor foundation for the promotion of Innovation. However, in the context of changed political scenario, Government of Nepal has realized importance of Scientific Research and Technological Innovation, which is even reflected in the instruction of Prime Minister of Nepal in many formal meetings. Being encouraged by the same spirit, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and National Youth Council (NYC) have come together to organize the International Youth Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation (IYCSTI) on 21-23 October , 2019 (Kartik 4-6, 2076) at Kathmandu, Nepal. The Conference is the first of its kind in Nepal and is the premier forum for the presentation of new advances and research results, policies and review papers on STI of Nepal. This conference is a prestigious event, organized to provide an international platform for the planners and policy makers, academicians, researchers, managers, industrialists, and students to share their research findings with global experts, especially among Nepali Diaspora. The conference basically aims to connect Nepali youth working in the field of STI with the Nepali Diaspora proficiently engaged in the same field around the globe. The resolution of the conference is expected to provide a concrete roadmap with sector-wise prioritization for mainstreaming STI in the National Development System.
This conference intends to pave the way to congregate Nepali Scientists from within the country as well as diaspora and absorb their specific knowledge, skills, and experiences to motivate the young minds in Nepal. It is expected to provide direction to formulate and transform policies into practices being youth-centric for the advancement of science and technology, which ultimately contributes in the sustainable development. Specific objectives of the conference are as follows:
- Create thirst and passion for science, technology, and innovation among the youth
- Invite international prominent scientists and technologists to invest in knowledge and skill enhancement in Nepal, establish a broad scientific network, and science diplomacy
- Prioritization of disciplines of fundamental and emerging sciences and technology for nation’s upliftment
- Academia-government-Industries partnership for Science, Technology, and Innovation

Topics of the conference are but not limited to Health and Medicine, Water and Energy, Food and Agriculture, Transport and Tourism, Information and Communication Technology, Forest and Environment, Disaster Risk Reduction, Indigenous Knowledge and Technology, Fundamental Sciences, Applied Sciences, Emerging Technology, Clean and Green Sciences, Economics and Management, Policy, and Philosophy.

Modes of Presentation
English is the official language of the conference and hence all the submissions and presentations are expected to be in English. However, any submission or presentation in Nepali with important contents may be allowed.
Nobel laureates or Dignified Scientists or Prominent Innovators/Inventor would deliver talks on Science and Technology awareness and implementation in national advancements.
At least one foreign and one Nepali Scientist or Technologist or Innovator will deliver Plenary Talks on each theme and rigorous panel discussion would be followed by the presentation. Youth participants would get chance to interact with notable scientists.
A total of 60-70 oral presentation are expected in the conference. Be an oral presenter of the conference and present your research or review work to a truly international audience. Presentation slots are limited, so early submission is strongly encouraged. Send your abstract today.
Please note: You must provide your presentation for preloading. Please submit your presentation (in English, copy-edited and proofread) by email to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5 days before the events starts. If for any reason, you are unable to submit your presentation in advance of the Conference, then you can preload your presentation to a laptop via registration desk when you arrive at the Conference, you must preload this at least two hours before you are due to present.
Poster boards will be provided to display your poster. The board size is A1 international paper size. Design your poster so that it is easy to read and include some visuals or charts. Allocate the top of the poster for the title and authors’ names and affiliations.
Do not use foam core or any thick or multi-layered materials or push-pins directly on the poster boards. Please make sure that the material used for the poster allows it to be posted on the boards. All posters should be based on the poster guidelines and accepted by the Scientific Committee.
Around 300 participants are expected to participate in the conference. Most importantly, the targeted participants of the conference are the youth in the country, oriented towards Science, Technology and Innovation. Prospective participants are requested to submit the extended abstract related to their prepresention in the camera ready format that can be downloaded from the conference website.
Extended Abstract Submission
Authors are required to submit the extended abstract (2 to 4 pages, maximum in .docx or .doc format) of proposed research paper or review or policy documents to be presented in the conference in the provided camera ready format. All full submissions will be peer reviewed and evaluated based on originality, technical and/or research depth, accuracy and relevance to conference themes and topics. Accepted extended absctracts will be published in the conference proceeding.
Evaluation and Notification
Submitted extended abstracts will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee. If the extended abstract is accepted, author (s) will be notified on or before 1st October 2019.

Organizing Committee will offer all the international participants a city tour accompanied by a local tour guide, free of charge.

Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, well renowned as city of temples, is famous for its history, art and deviant religions. The average temperature during mid October lies between 12 to 27 degree Celsius. There are regular international flights connecting Kathmandu to major cities of the globe.
